UAWB Connect Intro Night

Adding to the plethora of incredible initiatives under our “Leadership” and “Community” pillars, UAWB Connect is an amazing program for all involved which we hope to continue in future years!

The vision of UAWB Connect is to pair first year women students with a senior student. The aim of this is to provide an accessible, personal, and effective support system for young womxn at the University of Auckland to help them succeed in business environments and achieve their highest potential. We couldn't be more excited to help foster these valuable mentorship experiences allowing members to upskill, meet like-minded people, and action female empowerment.

This program has officially launched for 2021 with the Introduction Night kicking off the mentee/mentor relationships and UAWB Connect Community!

The UAWB Connect Introduction night was hosted at the EY Britomart offices, with the support of the EY Campus Recruitment Team. The evening was filled with excitement, positivity, and laughter from the mentors and mentees while participating in some fun filled ice-breakers.

Throughout the night, mentors and mentees got to know each other, and understand their goals, responsibilities, and expectations, while enjoying some delicious nibbles and drinks. We look forward to re-connecting with all the mentors and mentees at the UAWB Connect events planned for Semester 2 aimed at continuing this strong community of womxn empowering other womxn!

We’d like to share some fantastic feedback we’ve received from a mentee/mentor pair in the programme!

"My first meet up with Jocie was a lot of fun! It was great getting to know each other better and seeing how we could make the most of the mentorship" - Rebecca (mentee)

"It was awesome to be in a room with like-minded women who want to provide a better experience for first years through mentorship. I had a lot of fun connecting and getting to know Rebecca at our first meetup, and I cannot wait for what the future holds for her!" - Jocie (mentor)
